WBAY-TV, Channel 2, has found its new weekend meteorologist.

Nolan Cain is making the move from his hometown of Paducah, Kentucky, to northeast Wisconsin to join the weather team at the Green Bay station, WBAY chief meteorologist Steve Beylon announced Aug. 27 on Facebook.

Meteorologist Nolan Cain has joined WBAY-TV, Channel 2, in downtown Green Bay as its new weekend meteorologist.

Meteorologist Nolan Cain has joined WBAY-TV, Channel 2, in downtown Green Bay as its new weekend meteorologist.

Cain is currently training at the station and will make his on-air debut during the 6 p.m. newscast on Sept. 6, according to a Facebook post from Cain on Aug. 20 that shows him standing next to the “I Love GB” statue on downtown’s CityDeck.

“For the last 20 years Western Kentucky has been my home, weathering Ice Storm ‘09, several tornadoes, and intense heat. Soon, I’ll be heading north for a bit more cold and snow potential and joining the weather team at WBAY-TV, the ABC affiliate!” Cain wrote on Facebook. “The forecast style you’ve seen will be going up there with me, hopefully giving a new and unique perspective behind stronger storms and likely more snow events.”

Cain has spent the last three years at NBC affiliate WPSD-TV in Paducah, beginning as an intern in the summer of 2022. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in earth, environmental and atmospheric science from Western Kentucky University.

He fills the weekend evening vacancy left by meteorologist Keith Gibson when he accepted a job in May as chief meteorologist at WISH-TV in Indianapolis after four years at WBAY. Freelance meteorologist Colleen Mehlberg has been helping out on weekend broadcasts since late June as the station looked for Gibson’s permanent replacement.

Mehlberg will still make an appearance on WBAY “every now and then” and is considered part of the station’s weather family, Beylon said on Facebook.
