Paul Beatty Named Special Agent in Charge of the Diplomatic Security Service Los Angeles Field Office


The U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) has named Paul Beatty Special Agent in Charge of the DSS Los Angeles Field Office. Special Agent Beatty will oversee DSS criminal investigations, protective security operations, and liaison activities in Southern California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii, American Samoa and the U.S. Territories in the Western Pacific.

Beatty grew up in Issaquah, Washington, and attended Issaquah High School, where he first learned about DSS special agent career opportunities. He went on to attend the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington (Class of 2001), graduating with a degree in international studies and a minor in Japanese.  Beatty also holds a master’s degree in technology intelligence from the National Intelligence University.

Beatty has served in China, Republic of the Congo, Algeria, Jordan, and the United States, and is returning to the DSS Los Angeles Field Office for the third time in his career. He is married with three children.
